摘要
In recent years, the mining industry has been facing a situation of labour shortage relative to other industries, although, as in other industries, the degree of shortage has fluctuated with economic conditions. Labour requirements in the mining industry are expected to increase somewhat more rapidly over the next 25 years than in the past. This is predicated on the expectation that the demand for coal and uranium will rise significantly as alternative energy sources to petroleum and natural gas in the mid-eighties. The magnitude of any labour shortage is likely to become progressively greater by the mid-eighties.
