摘要
Impact cratering on solid planets and satellites is increasingly being recognized as not just a passive record of marginal events in the early history of the Solar System, but as one of the driving mechanisms of planetary geological evolution. A number of mass extinctions throughout Earth's history are now linked to major impact events. Although the number of known terrestrial impact craters is relatively small, those preserved represent an important resource for understanding impact phenomena.
