End-to-end send-time-based flow control scheme

We recently introduced a new transport protocol, called DTP, which uses send time control as its flow control scheme. In this scheme, the time at which a packet is sent by a source is computed from estimates of round-trip time, traffic in the network, and bottleneck service time. In this paper, we propose an estimation technique for the send-time control scheme. The estimation scheme proposed here reflects the characteristics of network dynamics which have been observed on the Internet. The results show that DTP performs much better than TCP in all the scenarios considered.
