摘要
The omnipresent problem in geochemical prospecting is how to find mineral deposits efficiently and economically. Research has been centered on several different lines, which are discussed in the paper. They include: evaluating multiple sample types or sample subclasses from single sites in different environments; evaluating, modifying and developing analytical techniques; identifying pathfinder elements for a given commodity or group of commodities under different geochemical environment conditions; understanding how physical, chemical and biological conditions influence both pathfinder and target elements dispersions; statistically evaluating element concentration data for target selection and indications of regional trends in element distribution; prospecting in the marine environment; prospecting for petroleum and natural gas; using geochemical prospecting data in other fields; relating new theories and concepts (e. g. plate tectonics) to the regional localization of potential ore provinces.
