The author indicates no subject in fluid power gets as much attention, and is as widely debated, as that of hydraulic and lubrication filtration. The misapplication of filters can be costly and, in some cases, catastrophic. This article presents three widely held myths with a list of corollaries pertaining to each and lists a few typical results from believing that myth. Counter evidence for each myth is presented under the subheadings of 'Overlooked Considerations'.
