Study of the Effectiveness of Medical Treatment of Patients with Chronic Dust Bronchitis.

Immediate results of treatment of 194 patients with dust bronchitis resulting from exposure to iron ore dust are described, as are late results obtained in 168 of these patients who were followed up for periods of 2 to 3 years. Treatment schedules adapted to the clinical features and severity of the disease are proposed. The late results suggest that some of the currently used treatment schemes need to be modified (so as to make the anti-inflammatory therapy more intensive and to increase the duration of desensitizing therapy) and that methods of treating recurrences should be developed.
