Characteristics of temperature fields during welding of annular seams on cylindrical shells are considered. An equation is introduced for the calculation of the temperature fields during welding, taking preheating into account. A numerical solution shows that the temperature of preheating depends on the quantity of the overlap. Conclusions are drawn about the magnitude of seam overlap and about the dimensions of the zone when programming of heat addition during welding is required.
