摘要：

A report is given on a model simulation of the ignition process of partial discharges in solid insulating materials. In addition, by measurements on polyethylene faults a description is given of the important mechanisms in the ignition process. The material parameters which are required for an evaluation of the danger of partial discharges are examined.
