摘要
The use of submicron tungsten carbide grades is continuing to expand with more demanding applications calling for high performance and tooling and technological innovations. Nanodyne Inc. of New Brunswick, New Jersey, has developed a breakthrough in grain size reduction with its patented spray conversion process (SCP). SCP provides an in situ hierarchical packing arrangement of nanometer WC crystals already distributed in the metal binder matrix. Millions of WC grains <50 nm are packaged in a large friable particle of median size varying from 50 to 80 μm. This system enhances stability and eliminates the need for any special handling technique.
