MAINTENANCE OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT IN ARKANSAS HOSPITALS.

The maintenance of medical equipment in hospitals in Arkansas was formally surveyed in 1972. A second survey was undertaken in 1984 to determine the position of biomedical equipment technicians in Arkansas hospitals and to anticipate future demands for their services. The results of the survey yielded valuable information about the staffing levels for BMETs, their education and training, their age and experience, and their salaries. The survey indicates that for at least the next two years, in Arkansas, there will be a demand for 8 to 10 BMET's per year.
