We developed a novel inter-frame image processing method to improve the image quality of a reconstructed hologram from the recording medium which experienced some volumetric change after recording. The key point of the image processing method is to sub-sample multiple images from the same hologram by slightly changing the readout condition and synthesize a reconstruction image from the sub-sampled images. We applied the image processing method to the angle multiplexing system and confirmed that the synthesized images had good enough intensity uniformities even when the recording medium had some shrinkage or thermal expansion after recording. We also confirmed that sufficiently low bit error rates were obtained from those synthesized images. © 2006 The Japan Society of Applied Physics;
