Model and fatigue life analysis for screw rotor of single screw compressor

In order to avoid early fatigue failure of screw rotor under the periodically varying dynamic load, the model analysis was performed using finite element technology for the screw rotor of single screw compressor. The equation for tooth surface of the screw was established. Three dimensional model of the screw rotor was generated by CAD software. The model calculation for the screw rotor was carried out based on BLOCK LANCZOS method. The first six natural frequency and corresponding vibration mode was gained. The analysis proves that the frequency of working load should keep away from each natural frequency and thus the resonance can be avoided. The present analysis result can offer the theoretical basis for the actual operation of the screw rotor.
