The hybrid finite-element boundary integral method (FE-BI) is applied for the analysis of the scattering from the complex media targets, such as the anisotropic media, bi-isotropic media, and bi-anisotropic media. The inside complex media part is discreted by the finite-element method (FEM). We derive the general functional formulation of the bi-anisotropic media in FEM, and this functional formulation is also applicable for the anisotropic or bi-isotropic media. The boundary region around the target is analyzed by the method of moment (MOM). Finally, some numerical results are given to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the developed hybrid method for the scattering analysis of the complex media targets. © 2009 by Editorial Department of Chinese Journal of Radio Science.
