State-of-the-art automated ultrasonic material testing systems: Modularity and practical applications

Automated ultrasonic systems for on- and off-line testing in production of heavy plates, pipe and rails are presented, specifically their modular design that combines simple elements within a complex testing unit where investment can be minimized without suffering any loss of performance. Examples will be shown illustrating requirements for testing and the benefits achieved with several systems installed in China, Korea, Europe and India over the past decade.
