摘要
The discharge process of the shadow mask plasma display panel(PDP)with different scanning electrode widths and shadow mask structures were simulated with the software package object oriented particle in cell (OOPIC), developed with the kinetic model. The number and position of the anode striations and the accumulated charge distributions on the dielectric surfaces were analyzed. The results show that the scanning electron width and the shadow mask structure significantly affect the anode striation. For example, the increase of the scanning electron width widens the main discharge area, narrows the space left for striation, and consequently reduces the number, or even eliminates the striation. Moreover, the large-small-hole shadow mask structure also strongly weakens the striation. We found that the charge accumulation on the dielectric surface closely correlated with the striation areas: the striation only exists on the area where negative charges accumulated on the dielectric surface above the anode, but no positive charge on the corresponding dielectric surface above the cathode.
