Study on high-speed and dynamic vision measurement approach for overhead catenary system geometric parameter inspection

Geometric parameters of overhead catenary system (OCS) are critical to the electrical railways. The space positions of the OCS not only determine the current collecting quality of the power equipment, but also influence the driving train safety. With the railway speed continuously improving and railway lines increasingly busy, traditional OCS geometric parameter measurement systems face a realistic challenge: most of the traditional OCS geometric parameter dynamic measurement systems have the defect of low acquisition speed, which limits their application in high-speed dynamic measurements. Therefore, how to obtain accurate OCS geometric parameters with high-speed is the key issue for the OCS inspection in the future. In order to improve the dynamic inspection speed of OCS geometric parameter measurement systems, an approach based on two line-scan cameras and one structured-light source is presented. The measurement principle of the geometric parameters is systematically introduced. Then, the detailed computation formula is deduced and the nonlinear vision model is constructed. At last, the OCS geometric parameter dynamic inspection setup was developed. The dynamic experiment results show the effectiveness of the measurement setup, which lays a foundation for its application in high-speed railway OCS geometric parameter dynamic measurement.
