Moving target parameter estimation using the spectrum interference of low frequency

Aiming at the complex algorithm and the need of more elements in the estimation of underwater moving target with TMA and MFD, this paper presents a method of target moving parameter estimation based on the analysis on spectrum interference in shallow water, which can be used in a single hydrophone. The noise radiated by the moving object will form interference after the multi-path channel. The hyperbola shaped interference pattern in time and frequency domain was derived from the ray model approximation of the acoustic field. By using the Hough transform, usually used for the edge detection in image processing, the hyperbola parameter was obtained to estimate the speed, depth and the distance of the moving object. The data from the sea trials shows the validity of this method. The acoustic field analysis and position algorithm of this method are simple compared with the general TMA and MFP.
