To train staff of nuclear power plants, a virtual inspection system of nuclear power plants is designed. In this system, main plants and equipments of nuclear power plants are modeled by means of three-dimensional modeling technology, virtual inspectors and their behavior are built through virtual human modeling and animating technology. These models are organized together by a scene tree. The model information and inspecting information are stored in an inspection database. Nuclear radiation fields in nuclear power plants are simulated through color grids rendering method. Virtual inspectors can inspect and operate in the 3D simulation scene of nuclear power plants. A behavior control method of virtual inspectors is put forward. Trainee can learn inspecting procedure and master equipment structure of nuclear power plants through the lively virtual inspection system. The system can enhance training effectiveness, saving training costs and shorten training time.
