摘要
The challenges faced by Canada's pulp and paper industry's mill closures and increment of expenditures, are discussed. Projected capital expenditures in the pulp, paper, and wood industry are forecasted to be in the ballpark of $1.2 billion for 2006 and the number is anticipated to grow upwards throughout the year. Rising electricity rates, natural gas prices, and the volatile Canadian dollar are expected to exert a detrimental force on investment, and will likely limit the size and number of new projects. According to the Industiral Information Resources report, the business conditions have been improving with the investment in the mills. A poll also has been conducted by Pulp & Paper Canada of its mill readership, which revealed some extraordinary opinions.
