Influence of metro tunneling in soft clay strata on underground pipeline

To reduce the influence of ground surface subsidence caused by metro tunneling in soft clay strata upon underground pipelines, the numerical simulation model in software FLAC3D was applied to compare three tunneling methods, i.e., pumping, dynamic pumping and un-pumping tunneling methods, through considering the compounding effect of fluid-solid coupling and tunneling process and the safety control standard of pipelines. The research result shows that the un-pumping tunneling method is the most effective one, this method being adopted in the construction of Shenzhen metro tunnel, so that gas pipelines below the tunnel ran safely in the construction process.
