摘要
A debate on the Gautrain proposal that was issued by the Transport Forum (FTPA) continues among the members who represent the constituent bodies and the parent bodies. The members have disagreed on the contents of the proposal statement. The South Arican government claims that the proposal will reduce congestion in between the cities of Johannesberg and Pretoria. The proposal has become a status symbol for the government that refuses to accept that there is no acceptable, safe, viable public transport system in the country. The Gautrain proposal should be considered after the basic transport system has been totally upgraded to become acceptable, viable and is found to be operating in a satisfactory manner.
