There is a strong interaction between fluid fields and solid structures when impact occurs. Not only can the fluid generate big slamming pressures on the structure, but the structure's response has significant effects on the fluid's flow fields, as strong fluid-solid coupling exists between them. Structural elasticity can reduce the effect of impact. This paper analyzes wedged structures, first comparing experimental results with our proposed computations of fluid-solid coupling based on Wagner theory. With this, we verify the correctness of the proposed computational method. On the basis of that, we discuss the effects of water entry velocity, deadrise angle and structural stiffness on slamming pressures.
