Damping characteristics of a turboshaft engine with mid turbine frame controlled by an elastic support/dry friction damper

To study the vibration reduction characteristics of a spring supported dry friction damper in a turboshaft engine with the mid turbine frame,a calculation method for the additional stiffness and damping of the spring supported dry friction damper located at the mid turbine frame was proposed based on the motion characteristics of the damper' s dynamic and static friction pairs. A finite element model for the coupling between the spring supported dry friction damper and the turboshaft engine was established. By numerical solution,the vibration reduction effect of different support point dampers on various modes of turboshaft engines and the vibration reduction mechanism of dampers on controllable modes were analyzed. Based on the above work,a damping design scheme for each mode of the damper was proposed. Results show that by designing parameters such as the position and number of support points,positive pressure,and control speed range of the spring supported dry friction damper,the damper can effectively control the modal vibration of the turboshaft engine with the mid turbine frame, with a maximum damping ratio of 95. 6% . © 2024 Chinese Vibration Engineering Society.
