Commodity prices enters a new territory in trading industry. Copper has broken through US$6,500/t, gold briefly moved above US$640/oz and oil is a staggering US$73/bbl while silver, platinum and palladium have all tracked the gains in gold. The situation has been influenced by increased political risk in the Middle East and Latin America. The market has estimated that the total gold production will rise slightly this year but will be flat in 2008 and will start to fall in 2009.
