Nonlinear static characters and simplified finite element model of guys in UHV guyed transmission tower

Nonlinear static analysis of guys is important to static characters analysis of guyed tower. In this paper, the static theoretical analysis model of the guy in ultra high voltage (UHV) guyed transmission tower was built. The formula of equivalent elastic modulus was presented in order to describe the elastic support of guys to the mast, and nonlinear static characters of guys was analyzed. Both of the guy simulated by the whole simplified model based on one bilinear bar element and one multiple linear bar element were presented. Two kinds of simplified model were compared with the exact model under wind loading. The result shows that the equivalent elastic modulus of the guy is close to the elastic modulus of material when the chordwise elongation of the guy is large, and the chordwise stress changes with the increase of chordwise elongation linearly. The equivalent elastic modulus of the guy is small and changes slowly with the decrease of chordwise elongation when chordwise shortening of the guy is large. The nonlinear degree of chordwise stress and chordwise deformation weaken with the increase of chordwise stress. The guy simulated by the whole simplified model based on one multiple linear bar element has high accuracy, and it is effective approach to analyze static characters of the guy in UHV guyed transmission tower. © 2015 Chin.
