Three-dimensional numerical analysis of flow and heat transfer of cooling-water in the engine cylinder cooling jacket with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software STAR-CD was carried out based on a four-cylinder engine to overcome the three-dimensional flow and heat transfer of cooling water in the engine jacket optimization design, improve the engine's cooling efficiency, reduce heat load of high temperature parts, and realize the engine's heat distribution and heat utilization. By computer aided design (CAD) modeling, setting up meshes and defining boundaries, information of the flow field, distribution of the surface coefficient of heat transfer and pressure losses of the cooling jacket were presented through numerical calculation, providing theoretical evidence for engine jacket optimization.
