The Nova Scotia Community College and Acadia University have collaborated to deliver a joint M.Sc. in Applied Geomatics. The primary academic units are the Applied Geomatics Research Group (AGRG) and the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Acadia University, respectively. This joint program, with residency and tuition divided between the two institutions, has received a positive response from the student body. The AGRG Web site describes current research activities: http://agrg.cogs.ns.ca This paper describes the history of the relationship between the two institutions, their research and funding at AGRG, the joint program and the possibilities for its evolution. With the continuing emphasis on collaborative research, we anticipate a market demand for applied research internships between educational institutions and government agencies, as well as with the Geomatics industry.
