摘要:
The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Canada's lead agency for channeling federal aid to developing countries, is steering away from hard infrastructure projects such as roads and water treatment plants. CIDA has realized that hard infrastructure projects are highly complex, expensive and long term endeavors. CIDA now tends to rely on international organizations such as the World Bank, the African Development Bank and the Asian Development Bank to oversee the big infrastructure works. CIDA and other aid organizations are planning to nurture local economics, engage local business and encourage women. The Canadians would like to see CIDA emulate the UK model or similar ones emerging in countries like Denmark, France, the US and Japan.
