Simulation and research of OFDM technique in UAV communication

A communication channel model of unmanned aircraft vehicle (UAV) was described. This channel is composed of a line-of-sight signal, a specular reflection and a diffuse multipath component. Based on published measurement results and empirical data, the typical simulation parameters were proposed. Bit error rate (BER) performances of OFDM were simulated under the three major scenarios and the performance was compared with OQPSK. The MATLAB simulation proves that OFDM can effectively combat inter symbol interference (ISI) caused by multipath channel and is better suited to the UAV communication channel than the traditional single carrier transmission technique.
