Study on synthesis of poly(aspartic) acid derivatives with hydroxyl in water

Poly(aspartic) acid (PASP) derivatives with hydroxyl (HPAP) are synthesized by the nucleophilic addition reaction of polysuccinimide (PSI) with ethanolamine(AE) in water. The effects of reaction conditions on the scale inhibiting performance of Ca3(PO4)2 are studied by orthogonal experiments. The results show that the optimized conditions are as follows: 9 h of reaction time, 25°C, of reaction temperature, 0.4 of AE/PSI molecular ratio, 18% of reactants' mass fraction. The HPAP has higher scale-inhibiting capability than that of PASP for Ca3(PO4)2.
