Calculating the wave making resistance of multi-hull ships based on an integral expression of the Kochin function on the surface panels

In order to calculate the wave making resistance of multi-hull ships, the Michell wave making method was modified. A modified butterfly surface subdivision method was used to define the ship's hull, and the ship's surface vector was used as source intensity. Then the wave making resistance of the multi-hull ship was calculated using the integral expression of the Kochin function on triangular panels. Four ship models (two catamaran and two trimaran) were taken as examples for the calculations, and the numerical results were compared with experimental data. The results indicate that the proposed method improves the precision of linear wave making resistance theory and can be conveniently used for ship hull optimization.
