摘要
This paper aims in finding out the pollution susceptibility of groundwater in karstic aquifers in and around Rampur Baghelan area. Geologically, the area is covered by Bhander limestones, shales and sandstones. In this study, the pollution potential of selected localities in the area has been determined using the DRASTIC INDEX method. It has been found that the limestone aquifers having direct access to surface water are more prone to pollution. The pollution potential of the study areas varies between 136 to 206 during pre-monsoon and 176 to 212 during post-monsoon season. During pre-monsoon 12.5% samples have low pollution susceptibility whereas other 12.5% have high pollution susceptibility. 75% samples indicates average pollution susceptibility. During post- monsoon 22% samples show average pollution susceptibility whereas 78% samples have high pollution susceptibility. Owing to high pollution susceptibility, suggestions and remedial measures have also been given to minimise the pollution of groundwater. © 2012 CAFET-INNOVA TECHNICAL SOCIETY.
