Manufacturers are increasing metalcutting productivity, with improvements in CNC accuracy. These improved CNC machining techniques and software for five-axis machining can help manufacturers achieve higher precision with smoother surfaces while cutting metal faster and more efficiently. The Smooth Tool Center Point (TCP) control from GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms introduced at IMTS, enables extremely smooth motion and reduced cycle time during five-axis machining processes using tool center point control. This TCP control reduces vibration in the velocity command to the servo system, resulting in smooth surface finish. Another factor in reducing vibration is the vibration suppression inherent in GE servo system, which offers four levels of high Response Vector (HRV) control. There are number of other systems developed based on CNC machining techniques to reduce the vibrations, and to increase the metal cutting productivity.
