This paper presents simple approaches to measure the bounds of the solution for the continuous algebraic Riccati equation (CARE). New upper and lower matrix bounds are developed. Compared to those appearing in the literature, the proposed bounds do not involve any free variables and hence are easy to compute. The paper also shows that they are better than existing results in some cases. © 2009 ISSN.
