Understanding the performance and behavior of garment leathers provides valuable inputs for the design and fabrication of the leather apparel. Drape is one of the important properties associated with garment construction and appeal. Studies on the drape of garment leathers are scarce. In this work; drape coefficient was measured for sheep nappa leather and compared with mechanical properties; which influence the garment construction such as flexural rigidity; softness; weight; thickness; initial tensile modulus and formability. The mean drape coefficient was calculated in the range of 45 to 54% for the selected sheep nappa leathers from four different firms. Flexural rigidity; weight and initial tensile modulus (across backbone direction) have been shown to have considerable influence on the drape coefficient. On the other hand; thickness and formability do not bear a significant relationship to drape coefficient. The results of this study can be used as an elementary tool for leather selection to facilitate the design and construction of apparel;
