Bipolar pulsed discharge is an effective method of water treatment. Degradation of the Pentachiorophenol by bipolar pulsed discharge in Glass-sphere/Water/Air Columns was investigated and the active species formed during discharge process was tested. Experimental results show that PCP can be quickly degraded during the bipolar pulsed discharge process. Almost all the PCP can be converted into other intermediates after 6 min discharge treatment, while all the benzene rings are broken for a 60 min treatment. Hydrogen peroxide and ozone can be formed during the discharge process, which is zero-ordered reaction. Rate constant k increases with the applied voltage and the gas flow rate.
