摘要
Lipids have traditionally been used in cosmetics as lubricants, carriers, and binders, and are important emollients because of their mosturizing effect. Agents such as mineral oils that are highly occlusive are being replaced with complex lipid esters because newer cosmetics recognize the lipid composition of the barrier and the importance of the ceramides in moisturization. Cosmetic companies use ingredients in a formulation or a topical product to immediately provide relief by supplying lipids that are easily absorbed by the skin and can instantly be broken down enzymatically. Another emerging approach involves utilizing technologies that can actually trigger the skin to produce its own lipids, thereby effecting lipid repair. Moreover, some products utilize peptides to improve skin quality and materials like ursolic acid and thermus thermophilus that ferment increases barrier reproduction. In view of this, the use of essential fatty acids and skin-friendly lipid technologies will only increase depending on the number of consumer demands.
