Something from nothing

A layering approach to speed up the production time in rapid prototyping is discussed. The process involves the use of lasers to trace the data from the CAD model onto the surface of photopolymer resin, layer by layer until the final product is complete to the original electronic data. Previously various companies have used time-consuming manual assembly of a number or parts to come up with the finished products. The products created with the technology may be as much as 2100×680×800mm and is typically used for a range of automotive components including dashboards, bumpers and other interior elements.
