Anton du Toit of Du Toit Yatch Design has talked by the company's choice of Dassault Systems V5 CATIA design, for the company's new yatch design development process. du Toit said that the company made a comparative study of SW, ProE, NX, and CATIA before choosing CATIA for yatch designs. It was pointed out the CATIA was chosen for its capabilities in freestyle surface modeling, parametric variational surface and solid modeling, and interactive drafting feature. The company can realize successful yatch designs by manipulation of factors such as control over surfaces and angles and run lines, for the boat's final aesthetic and performance. du Toit emphasized that the use of 3D CATIA modeling is due to its productivity gains and the associated designers and yatch builders using 3D products for an easier business.
