Research on the amelioration of radio fuze's execution circuits against UWS-EMP

The radio fuze used in experiments is a decimeter wave radio proximity fuse, assembled on mortar shell of different calibers. The radio fuze also can be assembled on serious types of shell like fragmentation cartridge, burst cartridge, steel-ball shrapnel. First the radiating fields and waveform are measured by UWS, TEM antenna, shielded cable. Second the reason of interference on a certain fuze's execution circuits caused by UWS is analyzed by irradiating the fuze's execution circuits with UWS to bring forward the amelioration, and reason is that UWS-EMP can cause the SCR of radio fuze conducting accidently, to further cause fuze firing. The fuze is reinforced by appending a big inductance between radio fuze resource and executive circuits of radio fuze. Then radiation experiments are carried on to reinforce fuze with UWS-EMP compared to original fuze. In order to evaluate the ability of improved fuzes' executive circuits resisting UWS-EMP, the simulation is also carried out. And the results of simulation and radiation experiments prove that the amelioration can improve the capability of fuze against UWS-EMP. Finally the influence of amelioration on fuze's performance is evaluated by comparing the radiation waveform and simulation waveform of both original fuze and improved fuze, and the results of radiation and simulation experiment show that the discharge time and amplitude of the original fuze and improved fuze are consistent. And the improved fuze is radiated to evaluate the firing capability. The radiating result indicates that the firing capability of improved fuze is same as original fuze. These comparison experiments prove that amelioration makes no difference to fuze's performance.
