The Northwest Airlines and Delta Airlines and their regional affiliates are facing strike threats over the wage reduction matter. The Northwest Airlines reported a $1.3 billion net loss for the fourth quarter of year 2005. The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association struck Northwest when the carrier put into place a contingency plan that outsources heavy maintenance. Delta has designated a fund of $14 million for reorganization program for employees.
