Finite element analysis of slender CFST columns under axial compression

On the base of finite element software ABAQUS, the mold of circle CFST slender column under axial compression is proposed. Because of initial eccentricity and initial bending of members in the practical fields of engineering, axial-compression slender columns do not exist. The analytical method of eccentrically axial compressive columns is applied for the analyses of CFST columns under axial compression, when slender ratio is less than 30, consulting the specification for steel structure, the initial eccentricity is 1/1000 length of the member; when slender ratio is more than 30, the initial eccentricity is 1/10000 length of the member. Load versus deflection curves of 156 CFST slender columns was calculated, the calculating results agree with those of tests well.
