Based on the foundation engineering of Xudong station in Wuhan Metro line 8, the finite element method is adopted to simulate the influence of foundation pit excavation on the adjacent viaduct pile foundations, and to analyze the stress and displacement of the soil and pile foundation in the process of excavation. The analysis results show that the protection requirements of the viaduct pile foundations which affected by the excavation of foundation pit could be satisfied. This calculating analysis may be a reference for the project implementation in later stages and the similar projects in this region. ©, 2015, Editorial Office of Modern Tunnelling Technology.
