摘要
The effects of blends of anhydrous ethanol, tetrahydrofuran(THF)and diesel on the combustion process were studied on a six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The three test fuels selected are pure diesel, the blends of diesel-THF(15% THF and 85% diesel in volume)and the blends of diesel-ethanol-THF(5% THF, 10% ethanol and 85% diesel in volume). The results show that the addition of 5% THF can significantly improve the solubility of the blends of diesel and ethanol. The addition of THF also increases the fuel consumption and reduces the effective thermal efficiency, while the effective thermal efficiency of the blends of diesel-ethanol-THF is slightly lower than that of the pure diesel. The addition of THF results in 8% increase in NOx emissions, 5% increase in CO emissions, 2% increase in HC emissions and 25% reduction in soot emissions. Compared with diesel, dieselethanol- THF fuel has 38% reduction in soot emissions, 7% reduction in CO emissions, but 16% increase in NOx emissions and 9% increase in HC emissions. It can be seen from thirteen operating mode test results that the emissions and the brake thermal efficiency of the blends of diesel-ethanol-THF are better than those of the blends of diesel- THF. It can be seen that the addition of a small amount of THF can not only achieve stable miscibility of the blends of diesel-ethanol, but also obtain lower emissions and better fuel economy than that of the blends of the diesel-THF. © 2021, Editorial Office of the Transaction of CSICE.
