摘要
Discharge of dyes from various industries is the major water pollutant for the generation of wastewater. Among various treatment processes for the elimination of various dyes from waste water, adsorption is being preferred as it produces reusable water without generating sludge. This study examined the adsorption capacity of Citrus limetta peel for elimination of methylene blue and crystal violet dyes. Chemical structure and surface morphology of synthesized Activated Citrus limetta peel (ACLP) was examined by FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy), XRD (X-ray diffraction), BET (Brunauer Emmett Teller), and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). The adsorption capacity for both the dyes was optimized by studying the effect of different parameters like dyes concentration, time of contact, ACLP dosage and pH. The process optimization revealed that 82.77% of methylene blue and 89.87% of crystal violet dyes removed with only 0.1 g of ACLP dosage in 120 min at pH value of 7. Kinetics studies results revealed that adsorption process for both the dyes is well interrelated by pseudo second order model indicating that process is chemisorptive. Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherms were utilized to investigate the present data and exposed that Freundlich isotherm is ensued for methylene blue dye and Temkin for crystal violet dye. © 2022
