摘要
A simplified frequency-domain channel model was proposed to address the complexity of the existing channel model for ultrasonic through-metal (UTM) communication. The frequency response of ultrasonic propagation in the metal wall was derived by utilizing the exponential attenuation characteristic and equal time interval characteristic of echoes. To approximate the amplitude-frequency characteristic of the piezoelectric transducer, the frequency response was combined with a Gaussian function.Subsequently, the combined frequency response was modified using scaling and shift coefficients to obtain the simplified frequency-domain channel model for UTM communication.Finite element simulation was conducted to verify the characteristics of ultrasonic propagation in the metal wall. The proposed simplified channel model was compared to the existing UTM channel model. Results demonstrate that the amplitude-frequency curves of the metal wall, the transducer and the overall channel in the proposed simplified model closely match those of the existing model, which verifies the accuracy of the proposed simplified model. © 2024 Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
