Positive energy districts as the seed of the decarbonized city

Positive energy districts (PED) are a new concept for urban action towards more efficient and flexible cities. Various initiatives-mainly at European level-are progressing in the implementation and research of this concept and are providing methodological frameworks for its replication. In this paper the examples of Oulu and Groningen-MAKING-CITY project's cities-are depicted, as well as an overview of the expected future developments. © 2021 Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos Canales y Puertos.
