摘要
Effects of Zn(0,0.5,1.0,1.5(%,mass fraction))on microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Y-Nd-Zr solid solution alloys were investigated by the optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microsco‑ py(SEM),energy spectrometer(EDS)and X-ray diffractometry(XRD),including the mechanical properties test. It is obvious that Mg12Nd and Mg24Y5 phases in the solid solution alloy are dissolved into the matrix, while Mg12YZn phase exists at the grain boundary. With the increase of Zn content, the volume fraction of Mg12YZn phase increases gradually, the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the alloys increase first and then decrease. When Zn content is 0.5%,the tensile strength and yield strength of the solid solution alloy reach the maximum values, which are 252 and 158 MPa,respectively. When the Zn content increases to 1.0%,the maximum elongation of the alloy reaches 13.2%. The most significant factor contributing to the yield strength of the alloy is solid solution strengthening, which accounts for more than 54%. With the increase of Zn content, the volume fraction of Mg12YZn phase increases, which results in the solid solution strengthening decreasing, while the strengthening effect of the second phase slightly increases. © 2024 Editorial Office of Chinese Rare Earths.
