The establishment of an acrylic acid and acrylates plant in Sasolburg, South Africa is discussed. The plant is the result of a joint venture between Sasol and Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. (MCC). The new company will be named as Sasol Dia Acrylates (SDA) and will begin exports in 2004. The plant will use proprietary MCC technology. Feedstocks for the new units will be sourced from Sasol's other production facilities in South Africa. The plant is expected to contribute $182.4 million to South Africa's balance of payments by 2005.
