Overlay reliable multicast protocol in wireless ad-hoc network

Reliable multicast service becomes essential to support a class of emerging applications which require reliable data delivery to multiple nodes simultaneously in wireless ad-hoc networks. A new overlay reliable multicast protocol called lightweight overlay reliable multicast (LORM ) was proposed. LORM built up overlay network topology with periodic detection of node information. The reliability of multicast data was guaranteed by combining local recovery and source recovery mechanisms. The results of the experiment based on 802.11b ad-hoc network show that LORM significantly outperforms LightWeight in terms of packet loss rate.
